I am definitely new to posting recipes. Honestly, the way I cook (and bake) is like this: find some recipes, read those recipes, adapt it to what works for me, and make a big mess in the kitchen! Very rarely do I invent a recipe; I am not that brilliant. But I do love food; I love playing around with different ingredients! Today I got to spend my Saturday morning doing just that on Fox 19 with Jessica Brown. This time, I put her to work as well.
If you’re interested in the recipe (of sorts), here it is:
Ingredients:
Chocolate cake or brownies
Chocolate pudding (I used a big box of instant pudding) (you could also do vanilla or butterscotch)
Cool Whip
Candy Bars (I used leftover Halloween candy: Twix, Hershey, Whoppers, Reese Cups, M&Ms)
Caramel Sauce (or hot fudge)
Steps:
Using either a trifle bowl or individual glass cups, layer the following: chocolate cake, pudding, whipped topping, caramel sauce, candy. Then, do it again for a second layer! I suggest cutting the cake in small pieces to make arranging them easier; I cut mine along the way to fill in gaps and corners. Be sure to add a thick layer of candy in the middle so it shows from outside the glass. Keep it in the refrigerator until serving.
I took this sinful yet simple dish to a gathering and it was demolished in ten minutes! I’d say that’s a winner. Plus, all the leftover candy is now out of my house! Whew! This chocoholic cannot be trusted with those bad boys around the house!
