As spring draws near, I want to draw attention to Wheel Fun Rentals at Sawyer Point. Last year, for my birthday, my dear friend treated me to this fun outing. She is well-aware that I will always pick an experience gift over a material item. We headed down on a late Saturday morning, rented our Double Surrey bike (seats four adults comfortably), and ventured out along the river bank. I was silly ecstatic.
As you can see, my friends share the same- when in Rome, let’s be goofy, never too old, can always make fun- spirit.
Bikes can be rented by the hour; trust me, we made the most of our time. But feel free to pay for more than one hour if you’d like! Taking turns driving (OK, steering), we cruised along the paved paths venturing past Bicentennial Commons, the Ohio River, Friendship Park, and Smales Park. Now, everyone does have to participate in the pedaling, and I think we did a pretty good job overall. But I’m not going to lie, a few of those hills might have kicked our butts just a bit. And going downhill- I was like a kid in a candy store ringing that bike bell!
There we walkers, bikers, and vendors along the way. If the sun is out, the flowers are blooming, and you’re looking for a fun couples date, friend outing, or family activity, I can’t recommend this highly enough. For those of us who do not live downtown, it’s so nice to be up close experiencing the scenery instead of just driving by.
When you’re done riding your bike, return it and walk down to the swings and enjoy the view. I don’t care what age you are, you are never ever too old to enjoy a swing! Also, The Banks is right there so there’s much to do to extend your outing.
Check out the Wheel Fun website for a coupon! They also provide Bike Tours if you’re interested. Wheel Fun opens in April! Totally my kind of a making moments day!
GO THERE (Wheel Fun)! TRY THAT (bikes and swings)!
