I actually feel guilty that I haven’t written this post sooner. For about a year now, Mango Tree has been our go-to for Thai food. Especially for takeout. Sitting just off Newtown Road in Mariemont, not only is Mango Tree close to home, but it’s consistently flavorful and fresh. If you’ve read any of my posts before, you know I love Thai food!
Usual favorites for us include Pad See Eew, various Currys, Thai basil, and Thai spicy. Recently, I’ve discovered Mango Tree’s Thai Street Food menu. Game changer! So far my favorite dish hands down from the street menu is Kua Gai Noodle. This dish has wide egg noddles and is garlicky and cilantro-y and just so good.
The star of my most recent meal was actually an appetizer I’ve never tried before. I got the spicy crab cucumber salad. It’s exactly what it says. It’s a bed of fresh cucumber with lots of fresh crab that’s topped with a spicy mayo; it is seriously good! I <3 crab! Totally fresh and healthy. My husband began with coconut curry soup and really enjoyed it as well. It’s perfect for a colder day!
A few days ago we were dining in at Mango Tree and decided to explore some different options. We were there for lunch and I’m a sucker for a Bento Box and Mango Tree offers a couple Bento options. I ended up going with the Sushi Bento Box which included: salad with ginger dressing, Spicy Tuna and California rolls, fresh fruit, Chicken Pad Thai, and Gyoza (think wonton/dumpling). Can’t go wrong with all that variety and it doesn’t break the bank. Always going for seafood when he can, my husband ordered the Thai Garlic Sauce; this is nice because you can pick from pork, chicken, seafood, or tofu. He loved this dish- the garlic is definitely there but not overpowering and the seafood is delicious.
While we were eating, I couldn’t help but notice the woman next to me enjoying this kind of orange drink that I’ve never seen; obviously, I leaned over to ask her about it. Thai iced tea. She made it clear she had no idea what was in it, but that it’s delicious. So yeah, I ordered one. And it was delicious. I’m not a huge fan of Chai so I wasn’t sure what to expect. All I know is that it has milk and tea and some sort of spices in it. . . and I wanted three more.
Located in a small strip mall in Mariemont, Mango Tree may not be large, but the flavors are huge. It’s clean, consistent, and always tasty. There is also a small sushi bar which is nice. If you like Thai food, I highly recommend checking it out. Bonus- it’s not far off the bike trail!
GO THERE (Mango Tree)! TRY THAT (Kua Gai Noodle, Bento Box Lunch, Thai Basil, Thai Iced Tea)!
